A year ago I heard about the first ever Retirement Expo being planned in South Africa. I was so excited that at last there would be a platform for anyone heading towards retirement or thinking about their next life stage. This show is now imminent and happens from 28 to 30 October at The Dome in Johannesburg. Refirement Network will have a stand at the show. Please come and see me. I will also be doing a daily talk on “The World of Work for Baby Boomers in the 21 st century”. I have included the latest press release from the organisers to give you an overview of what will be on offer.
The article this month talks about some of the options available to you in the world of work. Many are struggling to find work or make ends meet and part of the challenge is seeing the world of work through a different lens. Take the time to read and then reflect on your own approach. There may be some adjustments needed.
Read this month’s article on how Izabella Gates changed direction in her career. Her story will reveal the challenges we face in this country and the many places we Boomers can get involved and make a difference.
A few years back I stumbled across a couple from America on the web. They have had an interesting journey over the past 20 years; the Kaderlis’ decided to change their lives completely. Their story has now been documented and is an easy read on line as it contains many pictures and tips of their life. For all of us that wish we could throw in the towel and pack our suitcase and travel, this dream come true account will share with you many tips and tricks on how to go about the journey. There are just over 8 weeks left for 2011. I hope that you have had time to stop and smell the roses, learnt something new, been challenged out of your comfort zone and visited an exciting place this year. Life is too short not to love what you do and enjoy time with those you love.
